General Info: Applications are invited for an Assistant Professor, tenure-track position in the Department of Finance and Business Law, with employment to begin August 2013. Teaching needs include financial institutions, financial analysis, financial risk management and financial management.
Duties and Responsibilities: Faculty members in the College of Business generally teach six sections per academic year and are expected to pursue scholarly research. James Madison University subscribes to both the Standard & Poor's Compustat and the University of Chicago's Center for Research in Securities Prices (CRSP) data bases through WRDS and students and faculty have access to Bloomberg and WONDA through the Gaglioti Capital Markets Trading Laboratory. In addition to these databases, JMU has online access to many resources, including Mergent Online. Interdisciplinary and applied research is encouraged.
Qualifications: Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Finance (or ABD in a Ph.D. program in Finance with a dissertation defense by December 2013), preferably from an AACSB-accredited institution, and have the potential for excellent teaching and scholarly research. We will consider applicants with a Ph.D. in Economics if the applicant has substantial graduate coursework in Finance, as well as teaching or work experience in business finance or investments.
Pay Rate: Commensurate with experience
